No? Yes? Too many colors for a tat, IMO.

Thank you! You're absolutely right too...wish it could be toned down some.

Very detailed. It would have to be very large to see all the details. The subtle color shades would be tough to see, especially with skintone as a background.
My 2 cents from someone without any ink.
Cool concept though. Seasons of life, right?

You may remember me from such tattoos as the gigantic human transmutation circle on my back. So yes, I know something about complex tattoos specifically, and yes, this one is complex. That said, depending on where you want it done, it wouldn't have to be nearly as large as mine (which includes text and small intricate symbols) -- the green and orange/brown leaves would most likely have to be changed from two-tone to some form of shading, and the total number of leaves might need to decrease unless you want the tattoo to be huge on your back like mine is. The sun symbols are simple enough, and the women forms shouldn't be complex for anyone who knows what they are doing. That said, this isn't a tattoo you can get on your ankle, no matter how much reducing of complexity and no matter how good the tattooist is. You will need to at least go for upper arm, if not back / chest. The only symbol that worries me is the earth in the center -- it's gonna be hard to make that look like the Earth in comparison to the symbol sizes around it. Still, looks like an awesome tattoo -- hope it works out for you Ama

It's beautiful
A wheel of the seasons tree is going to be beautiful and colorful. I personally love it. I think a lot depends on where you want to put it and the size.
My daughter has 2 wheel of life tats. One on each ankle. The first one she had done were frogs, 6 small tats basically, eggs to pollywogs to frogs to eggs to pollywogs to frogs, well you get it. The frogs were front and back and incredibly detailed and colorful. Done by a guy who did only a few a year and ones he liked and all nature ones. One set are tomato frogs, so reds and oranges, the other were more traditional blues and greens.
The other leg has the a snake, shovelnose I believe, eating it's tail. It's done off a real snake and is in more browns and such.

it is beauiful and I would reckon would depend on who you got to do it, different artists are adept at different styles so make sure you pick someone adept at that kind of art work

Thanks for all the input! I'm still in the research stages for this tat...I want it to be something truly meaningful to me. The three I have now, well the ankle was more or less "I want to get my first tat and I don't care what it is". Hey, I was young. The second was more rebellion, (not to mention it looked really good with my Ren garb bodice ) and though the third (a rather large fairy on my left shoulder) holds more meaning than the previous two (I luv fairies)...I still wish I had thought it out just a little bit more before getting it. This one has to reflect the past year, as trying as it had been....a sort of renewal of myself and those things that are important to me. I was pondering a tree of life, with a peach cancer ribbon perhaps hanging from one of its branches...but cannot seem to find an image that I love. It's all a work in progress...

Also after doing a quick google there are several tattoo designs with ribbons incorporated cleverly into the design, albeit mainly pink ones... from butterflies (their bodies being the ribbon) to angels to wreaths to flowers to ... well you get the picture. As you mentioned circles this one stood out though the tattooist would have to be adept at shading also perhaps go to checkoutmyink.com and see if theres anything there, they have a forum too for questions and finding people in your area. best of luck. Im still waiting for my last years birthday present to be designed (yep a tattoo) though I doubt it'll ever happen as the person in question thinks I'm not a tattoo girl !

Thank you Isolde for all the great input and advice. I will check out that site and forum as well. A co-worker of mine has a sister who is an artist and she told me that her sister could design a tattoo for me...all I have to do is tell her what I want. So we'll see how that goes. I'll also continue my search, which reminds me, I love that image. <3

OOooOooOoo blue... now that's purty. But here's my take. You all know I'm too bloody chicken and cowardly to sit myself down and get one of these. But I figured if I was ever going to get one, it'd be for one or two reasons. 1. The symbol would fit the meaning I want to convey, not the other way around. Example--I did tinker with a design of my own back in the day. WAY back in my early college days, where I actually designed symbols that represented my two best friends at the time. It was something of a yin/yang, but not the traditional black/white. I'll have to see if I scanned it somewhere and saved it before the ancient mac died on me. And when I was happy with the design, I put it away. Figured if we were still the "rat pack" years and years after we'd all graduated and separated, it'd be worth pulling back out again. If not, it still made for a nice design on paper. 2. Scar coverage. PCOS causes varying degrees of acne, skin tags and such. While mine thankfully isn't all that severe anymore, it used to be a bastard and a half for me. So long as the scar tissue isn't that severe, I figure coverage wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Thing is, I also prefer a canvas type work of art, rather than a piece here or there. So it'd be pretty extensive, and I'm sure pretty damn painful. lol So... rather than finding a pretty picture and fitting meaning to it, find (or commission) a pretty picture to fit your meaning. Side note: I've only done a couple of tattoo designs in the distant past. I could probably try to knock some of the rust off of my brain cells and give a commission a shot just for you, dear, if you're really hankering for it.

the person who did my daughter's frogs did an almost lassen/who's the other guy scene on someone she know's back. there is water, and dolphins and it goes from below her shoulders to the top of her ass.
it's artsy...

I like the blue Ama very purty
Rand I like your thinking
Cerd thats what I always wanted I wanted one to start at the shoulder curve round under my breast down my side and end at my hip with a lower back one to match possibly trailing down over my hip and round my thigh but hmmm "i'm not a tattoo girl!"
I have oodles of stored designs that I like even drew some fairies and a sword design to go down my spine. I hear having your butt tattooed is the least painful plac to get done so I was thinking of having either a moon or a rune there
