What's your opinion on the Lytro camera? Is it a scam or does it really work? And if so, does it do a good job?

It's pretty cool. It has a while to go. A lot of the same things can be done with a normal RAW picture using algorithms. If you know the defuse pattern of light coming from the lense you can apply a blur pattern that reverses it and blurs out the rest. This doesn't have tons of detail yet though. You can also use sharpening.
Lytro is cool, but I'm going to wait a while before I really think about getting a light field camera.
Edit: Lytro pictures also seem pretty grainy
Edit2: I can also see the blur patterns they use. It has a ways to go

Oh! Beautiful pics! I love photography. I like to take pictures of mountains, forests, bodies of water etc...nature in general but every time I get a nice camera it gets broken. :/
