Some people like music... Other people love music. People like me? We crave music... were the people who wake up at 430am, turn on your blackberry to full blast, and listen in the shower, as soon as your dressed you put on earphones, get in the car, turn on the radio, get on the train, put the earphones back in, and when you get to work you switch to a more laid back play list (that wont upset your fellow office mates... they seems to take offense to Southern Metalcore at 8am... idk why.) and then put them back in when work is done, til your at home jamming to music again.
This is my daily life. I have 25+ gigs of my favorite music, consisting of 248 artist, 371 albums, 4641 songs, and 22 different genres of music. And when Im not listening to the above "favorites" I have pandora on, or the radio. There are few moment when music is not near me. I literally have earphones, my phone on speaker, or my computer playing at any given time when Im out/at work. At home, I have my records (yes, as in a turn table) or some cassets and A-tracks (Im not out of my twenties, I just like old stuff).
Anyone who enjoys music as much as I do (even if not as often as I do) SOUND OFF! Lets hear what you listen to, why you love it, and what your guilty pleasures are.
Im a sucker for Blues. Blues is the root of all music... without blues, we would have nothing. Spinning off my love of blues is definitely the Blues Rock, Country Western and Country Rock genres that are a must have. My "most listened to" genre is Southern Rock. Growing up, my mother listened to country (anything from Haggard and Cash to Toby Keith's new stuff) and my dad listening to Classic Rock (with the exception of Disco Fridays). So it was only a matter of time before I was turning on Hatchet, Skynyrd, .38 special, ZZ Top, Georgia Satellites and the Allman Brothers....
As I grew older, I fell into the need to listen to heavier things, my poison of choice more often than not is Hard Rock, (Heavy) Metal, or Metalcore with Southern Rock influence, roots, or touches. (Yes, this exists... quite a bit actually).
I also turned up the want for wanting heavier blues music too (...what?) I know... I know... But this led me into Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal... both decent genres, but not something I flaunt about either due to... predisposition about people who listen to this music. Apparently you cant like fuzzy, bluesy, deep rock without being high... or so the thought process goes.
For my final 'seriously... these genres exist?' topic. Ill throw out bands/duos/singers like Rehab, Everlast, P.O.D. and BlakRoc for alternative hip hop/rap that is blended with southern rock and blues. Dont believe me? Look em up. (BlakRoc is not a group persay, it was a collaboration between the Hard Rock\Blues Rock band The Black Keys and several hip=hop and rap artists...) While I usually cannot stand rap or much hip-hop... I thoroughly enjoy these groups. (P.O.D. has done everything from southern hip-hop, to dirty south, to reggae, to hip hop, to rock rap... those guys just know no boundries).
Thats my musical rant for the day, check back often!
