www.30bananasaday.com/group/pagans-witches/forum/topics/vegans-modern-day-witchesHope that link works...just thought I'd stir up the pot a little. To me, this guy sounds like a true idiot who doesn't know his head from his arse. His comment about homosexuals really turned me off too. These are the kind of people who turned me off to anything Christian when I was trying to find myself... And a blessed Yuletide to you all

Just from you comments, I'm not going to watch this on Christmas Eve. But from your comments, I'll say this. No religion can be judged by the actions of its individual members, but from the fully understood belief of that religion. I've met many like you who have said, "People like this turned me away from Christianity." I only shake my head because they don't understand what they are turning away from, but rather, they are turning from the person they are disgusted with. And they should be, but also should not judge the entirety of Christianity with those people.
It'd be like saying the jihads represent Islam. Christianity has a message of love (admittedly very tough love) and redemption and justice and mercy, not hate and violence and revulsion. Anyone who rejects a religion for its people needs to reconsider how they judge.

Ok, in all honesty, when I read the first part, I thought it was a satire. A joke. The description of witches in the 17th century sure seemed like a joke to me! Then I read further. Either he takes his jokes too far, or he's serious. I did some digging on Harry Hardwick (the pastor who wrote the original sermon), and found this little gem: www.landoverbaptist.org/brotherharry/may2001.html His comments here really SOUND like satire, but I know a lot of people actually believe the Bible in the way he's chosen to interpret it. (Read specifically the Q&A about the inferiority of women.) As a meat-eating Wiccan, I can proudly say that I have successfully integrated myself into the general population, and have gone unnoticed thus far. Maybe it's time for me to start kidnapping and eating infants again?

Merry meet Belari
If Vegans are witches, the place I work - well they would all roll over and die! LOL
And as a carnivorous neo-pagan, bring on the meat!

^ Cerd Merry Meet Belari I think I might have insulted Max, and that was truly not my intention dear. What I was trying to put out there, is that I find it so appalling how 'some' people of the Christian faith appear to be closed-minded about things that they do not, or will not understand. I mean, how could you label all vegans as witches? I know plenty of vegans who are not witches at all. I also know some vegans who are witches. Myself, I am a vegan aspiring towards 100% raw vegan (the 80/10/10 lifestyle) AND I am Wiccan. But you know what? So what! I'm still a person, just like everyone else. It's just the principle of the thing. You don't see me trying to convert a non-believer to my faith; and you never will. I'm not attacking your religion Max, but I am attacking this man, who with his arrogance and ignorance makes people like you look bad. If any of that even made sense...I'm exhausted; but I just wanted to say sorry if you felt slighted by my post.

You should be criticizing this man. But I wouldn't criticize his faith. Because, really, I don't think he represents it well.
And you meant to stir the pot; don't apologize! Haha!

You are absolutely right Max, because you know...the next day I found myself thinking "oh my goodness, I am sounding as narrow minded and not as open as I usually am too". But yes, that guy is an idiot. His views on women, disgusting. Consider my hands sufficiently slapped. I didn't mean to put down an entire religion...even though Wiccans ARE sexier. And yes, the forum has been too quiet lately, thought I'd try to stir the pot up a bit. I'll have to see what else I can manage to stir.... Love you Max. Happy New Year everyone!

“All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed, imagination, and poetry.” ― Edgar Allan Poe “The fact is that more people have been slaughtered in the name of religion than for any other single reason. That, that my friends, that is true perversion!” ― Harvey Milk “Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.” ― Seneca Happy New Years, everyone!

And yet, the worst atrocities were under atheistic regimes; the Societ Union.
Nice try, though.

Atheist regimes, I'll agree with that. But the Catholic church in particular and it's inquisition, crusades, and treatment of modern science and the geniuses that brought us such revolutionary ideas as "the Earth is not the center of the universe" certainly cannot claim total innocence.

No wars have Ever been waged in the name of Wicca... Saw that somewhere and thought I would add my 10 cents. And I love, love, love Poe.

I guarantee that what you know of the Crusades, Inquisition, and the Church's influence on science is more on propaganda than fact. Give me a few minutes of your time and I'll show you what it is.

Go for it, and you're welcome to even start up a new thread for it in case you think it's more appropriate.

If I was to do something like that, it'd be for the general idea of Catholicim being the last acceptable prejudice.
