I fantasize about a body guard unit who utilizes them.
Possible inventor.

One of the most powerful (and in my opinion, coolest) Force users ever was Darth Bane. In a sense, he was pretty much the equivalent of the Sith Chosen One, or Sith'ari. Also, I'd like to note that Bane wasn't just powerful in the Force, but physically he was strong and his endurance and tolerance to pain was phenomenal. I will list some examples below: At age 18, he challenged his abuside daddy to a fight. His daddy beat him until his ribs cracked, and Bane withstood the pain without sound. That night, Bane, filled with hate, envisioned his daddy dying by picturing a giant hand squeezing his heart. Hid dad died in the night. Unbeknownst to Bane, he had used the dark side without knowing. Note: This is without any training whatsoever. In a duel on Tython, he dominated three Jedi, two of whom were masters, one of whom was condisered one of the greatest duelists in the order at the time, and all were "enhanced", if you will, by battle meditation. Also, Bane could use the pain and suffering of others to sustain himself. For example, Bane was poisoned badly. On a battlefield, he saw a father and his children scavenging on a battlefield. One of the children happened upon Bane's saber, and Bane used the Force to control the lightsaber and killed the father's children IN FRONT OF HIM, before killing the father. I don't know for sure who exactly is the most powerful, but bane is definitely one of the greatest. Without a doubt, Bane is one of the most powerful ever, and this combined with his extraordinary endurance, will to survive and his ruthless pursuit of victory in any situation would be sure to make him one of the most overall powerful and deadly beings in Star Wars history.

I've always held Bane in high regard for his revolutionary Rule of Two. A Sith visionary.

Absolutely. The Rule of Two was what finally brought about the Galactic Empire a 1000 years later.

And it is what maintained the Empire for nearly 20 years, and caused unimaginable trouble many years beyond that. Even if the Rule was modified.

Yes, I guess your are right about that, however, the Sith are simply power-hungry madmen - the Rule of Two did little to stop infighting, after all, the entire process revolved around the Apprentice slaying the Master - so the infighting could never truly be eliminated. What the Rule of Two brought was stealth, deception and discretion. Darth Bane was a strategist - as an Empire, the Sith were trying to take the galaxy by sheer force, and the Republic would best them. Under the Rule of Two, though it took a thousand years, Bane's new rule paid off in the end (for 20 years anyway). Nevertheless, they won in that circumstance, but the Sith will always be bad guys. Bad guys are selfish, mean and cunning, that means they'll stab each other in the back. That's what the Sith do to each other, that's why they'll never truly win.

Of course. A famous quote of Lucas.
"The Force has two sides. It's not benevolent or malevolent. It has a good side and a bad side."

I've always wondered, are there any "good" dark side users? You know, using the dark side doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. And (the thought makes me laugh) bad light side users?

Depends on the definition of 'good' Kyp Durron at times was 'good' dark. Luke too; especially during the Emperor Reborn comics. Doing evil to take out the big evil - even if he did fall deeper. Darth Caedus at times; though not by the end. In SWTOR; it's perfectly acceptable to play an honorable dark side character. Whatsis name from the pre-Ep3 kiffar stories. Ah, yes, he was a Jedi who became one of Dooku's dark side agents or something like Asaaj Ventress. Yes, I believe he turned light side in the end though, before his death. I believe this would have occured during the events of EP3, as Order 66 was issued and I recall he was fired upon by his own troops.
