It's not necessarily throwing terms around like they're insults, it's telling it how it's been playing out, especially more recently than several years ago. Conservatives and liberals have been pitted against each other because certain politicians (I'll letcha guess which one I'm referring to) have built up class warfare to a fevered pitch. If you've interjected your own opinion into other similar political conversations elsewhere, you already know they are by FAR more vicious and mean spirited than this thread, and I've purposefully tried to keep my head from exploding up in here. lol Oh I'll put a bit of blame onto political parties being hijacked, too. Both sides have morphed into some pretty frightening abominations over the years, and I haven't even always followed politics like I do now. I'd love to just sink back into my old blissfully ignorant ways. But if it comes down to it, I'd rather face off a tank with one of my pistols in my hand than with nothing in my hand.  |

As long as you know your pistol will be pointless, then the point is conceded and we can move on to other arguments for why owning guns is a good thing. I think we've safely disprove that having small arms will stop a high-tech government from imposing tyranny, should they choose to do so. That doesn't mean there aren't other valid arguments for limiting gun control... I just think the "it prevents tyranny" argument is completely unrealistic. See, and here I'd say class warfare has been built up by the stagnation of the median wage... that poor people are in fact getting poorer, and rich people are in fact getting richer. The numbers are there for anyone to see. So when the poor people get pissed off that they keep getting poorer... they caused the problem? Huh? I do agree with you that it's far more civil in here than say the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives... but I saw you and Cerd getting a little heated, and figured since I wasn't in the middle for once, I'd throw that little reminder in  |

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

This one time I saw a sign that said "people who think guns solve problems instead of words probably are violent with hatred in their hearts, and are going to hell."
That's the problem with signs, you see. They can say anything you want them to say, and they don't have to be backed up with any logic, reason, or evidence.
It's like having a discussion with a brick wall... and I'll keep reminding people of it when it happens.

And I just happen to agree that gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars. That's also the thing about signs, you can either agree with the message, or not. Sometimes the message is pretty straightforward. Gun control does nothing but make it easier for criminals to victimize law abiding citizens. I think I saw that on a sign once, too. Or maybe it was a facebook post. |

I got a sign it says "no trespassing, violators will be shot." Haven't had a problem with people coming onto my property.  |

Guns are restricted but nothing is full proof , just look at all the other problems this country has..eg under age drinking for one. The list is HUGE of all the laws we have that are broken on a daily bases.
